About

Dr. Rakhi Agarwal is a Professor of Forensic Science at National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU), Delhi Campus. She is a Forensic Chemist and Toxicologist with an extensive research and teaching-oriented career spanning of 20 years. Prof. Agarwal has completed M.Sc. Forensic Science from the Agra University (2003) and awarded with Ph.D. in Toxicology jointly from the CSIR-Indian Institute of Toxicology Research, Lucknow and Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi in 2008. She was awarded with UGC NET-JRF/SRF for Doctoral Studies in 2004/2006 and also been awarded with CSIR-Research Associateship for Post Doctoral Research in 2009. Prof. Agarwal is serving NFSU (erstwhile GFSU) since its inception and from June 2022 onwards, she is shouldering the responsibilities of academics, faculty-development and student mentorship as Dean-Academics.

Prof. Agarwal has to her credit 32 publications in peer reviewed international/national journals, 01 patent, 02 book chapters and 02 articles. The total citation of her research work is more than 900 with h-index 12. In the span of her academic career, her 05 Fellows have been awarded with PhD Degree, currently 10 Research Fellows are working for the award of Ph.D. degree. Further, she has guided more than 100 Dissertation fellows from India and overseas countries. She has developed academic curriculum for M.Sc. Toxicology and PG Diploma in Forensic Toxicology in consultation with experts from various public and private sectors. Her research interests is in the field of Analytical and Mechanistic toxicology of various environmental toxicants along with their possible prevention using novel animal model viz. C. elegans & assessment of environment toxicants from different matrices using sophisticated instrumentation.

Prof. Agarwal is associated with many public and private bodies as subject matter expert for setting up of question papers and member of interview panel board in the field of forensic science. She has been working as reviewer for many journals of Elsevier etc. She is actively involved in consultancy services for insurance sectors and pharmaceutical industries as an expert. Prof. Agarwal has received many prestigious Awards, Honors and Fellowships. She is a life member of various professional bodies in India and Full Member of Society of Toxicology (SOT), USA. Prof. Agarwal has served as Executive Member for Society of Toxicology, India from 2012-18. In 2020, she was selected as Associate Member- Toxicology, American Association of Forensic Science, USA. She has been elected as Fellow of The Society of Toxicology (STOX), India 2023.
