Dr. Kanchan Mala is a physicist with a passion for applying science to real-world challenges. She completed her Ph.D. in Physics from Savitribai Phule Pune University, and holds both an M.Phil. and M.Sc. in Physics from Himachal Pradesh University.
Her academic journey has been shaped by a strong interest in electronics, material science, and nanomaterials. During her doctoral research, she worked on lithium-ion batteries, exploring ways to improve energy storage technologies—an area that continues to influence her scientific outlook.
At present, she is associated with National Forensic Sciences University, where she teaches and works in the fields of forensic physics and ballistics. She is particularly interested in how fundamental Physics can be used to solve forensic problems and support the justice system. Alongside her academic role, she is also involved in consultancy work in multimedia forensics.
Her core research interests lie in Forensic Physics, Ballistic analysis, Multimedia forensics, and the application of advanced materials in scientific investigation.
