Dr. Biplab KR Chatterjee is an Assistant Professor of Physics at the National Forensic Sciences University, Gandhinagar. With a passion for Physics, he works on magnetic and photonic nanomaterials and trying to make significant contributions to the fields of materials science and nanotechnology.
Dr. Chatterjee earned his B.Sc. (Honours) in Physics in 2008 from University of Calcutta. He continued his educational journey by completing his M.Sc. in Physics in 2010, followed by an M.Tech. in Nano Science and Technology in 2012 from Jadavpur University. His relentless pursuit of research led him to achieve a Ph.D. in Engineering in 2018 from Jadavpur University, Kolkata. He has qualified the CSIR-UGC NET Physical Sciences, securing an all India rank of 18 and also qualified the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE-Physics) conducted jointly by IISc and 7 IITs, MoE, Govt. of India. He was awarded a Senior Research Fellowship during his Ph.D tenure at Jadavpur University funded by University Grants Commission (UGC). His research work has been published in various peer-reviewed international journals of repute.
Dr. Chatterjee possesses teaching experience, spanning over more than five years along with his long-term involvement in active research in the field of Materials Sciences. Being an avid learner, he actively seeks out opportunities for continuous learning through participation and securing several Gold and Silver medals in online Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) offered by national and international organizations like NPTEL, MHRD, Govt. of India. In 2023, he was recognized as the "NPTEL Domain Scholar" in the field of "Electronic Materials (40 weeks course)" under the discipline of "Metallurgical & Materials Engineering," coordinated by the IIT Madras NPTEL Chapter and supported by the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India.
Dr. Chatterjee holds a life membership with the Magnetics Society of India (MSI), headquartered in Hyderabad, as well as the Indian Physical Society – Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (IACS), Kolkata. As an Assistant Professor at the National Forensic Sciences University, Gandhinagar, Dr. Biplab KR Chatterjee continues to inspire and mentor students while actively engaging in cutting-edge research. He is passionate for exploring the realms of materials science and nanotechnology in the forensic science applications, along with his dedication to academics, and unwavering commitment to scientific excellence.
