Dr. Kanan Thakkar, who holds a Ph.D. in Structural Engineering from Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology, Surat, Gujarat, India, has been serving as an Assistant Professor in the Forensic Structural Engineering Division at the School of Engineering & Technology, National Forensic Sciences University since 2022. With over 9 years of teaching, research & consulting experience, she has expertise in various fields including Seismic analysis and design; smart materials and their structural applications (Shape memory alloys & composite materials); structural dynamics; finite element analysis; constitutive relationship; seismic retrofitting of steel, concrete and masonry structures; applications of advanced composites materials in structures; analysis & design of bridges; statistical analysis; design of experiments; factorial design; optimization; multi-objective decision making; etc.
Dr. Thakkar has received several accolades for her research work, including the "Outstanding Women Researcher" award at the International Conference on Sustainable Innovations in Civil & Mechanical Engineering (ICSICME) in 2020. She has published several research papers in reputed journals, proceedings of international conferences, & book chapters.
