Dr. Ashish Deshpande has 19.5 years of experience in law fraternity. He has three years of practical experience in court and 16.5 years in teaching at Symbiosis Law School, Pune. He has completed his Ph.D. from Symbiosis International University in Prosecutors in India and France: A Comparative Study in India and France. His research recommendations were sent for Law Reforms to the Ministry of Justice, Government of India for prosecutor reforms and few are reflected in BNSS, 2023 relating to appointment of prosecutors. His specialization is in International Criminal Law, Comparative Law and Procedural Laws. His research area is Criminal Law, Forensic Science, Property Law, Infrastructure Law, Planing and Environmental Issues.
He has guided various Ph.D. students under the Faculty of Law and one scholar has awarded Ph.D. from Symbiosis International University on topic on Probative Value of Illegally , Improperly and Irregularly Obtained evidence in Criminal Trials in India’ Also, he has guided four Ph.D. students till their Pre- submission of thesis stage. He has guided 32 LL. M. destinations on various legal topics.
He has taught more than 20 subject including Property Law, Procedural Law including Law of Evidence, Criminal Law, Infrastructure Law, Sports Law, Land Law, Administrative Law, Housing and Urban Development, Comparative Prosecution Policies in India EU, Principles and Practices E- Justice , Principles and Practices of Fair Trial in India and EU, Prosecution Policies in India and EU, etc for UG and PG programs.
He has authored 21 articles at National and International platforms on various socio- legal issues relating to criminal law, property law, women empowerment , climate change, environment protection, etc. burning issues. Those articles are reflected peer reviewed journals including SCOPUS indexed, Web of Science , UGC Care Lists , Seminar Proceedings, and various book chapters.
He has developed curricula on Sports and Law, Principles and Practices in Fair Trial and Prosecution Policies in India and EU and also taken active part in curricula development of Property Law and Land Laws.
Dr. Deshpande has attended various professional development programes including Third Eurasia Participated in 3rd Eurasia Training Program (European Studies Revitalised Across Asian Universities) at Jagiellonian University, Krakow, Poland (Europe).He was actively involved in Virtual Public Consultation cum Discussion on Transformation of Criminal Justice System in India at Symbiosis Law School Pune in 2020 ( A project under Ministry of Home Affairs Govt of India) on topic Withdrawal of Prosecution.
As an academic administrator at SLS Pune he has handled sensitive departments like Examination, Inter Institute Credit Transfer , Floating Credits Program, Community Legal Care and Pro Bono Club, Symbiosis Community Outreach Program, Sports Cell, SET / NET Study Circle, Alimni Cell, etc. Portfolios.
As a resource person, He has conducted a special lectures in Berlin School of Economics and Law (Germany) in B.A. (Police Security) on Aftermath of Delhi Gang Rape Case and Law of Evidence in Administration of Justice in India. He has conducted sessions at National Forensic Science University , Maharashtra Judicial Academy, Mumbai, Maharashtra Intelligence Academy, Pune, State Reserve Police Force, Pune ,
As an extra curricular activities and out of his passion , Dr. Deshpande has delivered more than 50 motivational lectures to needy underprepared students and arranged facilities like libraries, school furniture, cycles , sports equipment for the students as an individual social responsibility. He has authored more than 10 articles in local and national news papers and magazines on various burning legal issues to create social awareness.
