Dr. Dipak Kumar Mahida is an academician and researcher in the field of Forensic Science, with specialized expertise in Forensic Toxicology, Analytical Toxicology, Plant Toxicology, Environmental Toxicology, and Mass Spectrometry. His research focuses on the application of advanced analytical and chemometric approaches for the detection, characterization, and forensic interpretation of toxic substances, particularly poisonous plants, plant-derived toxins, pesticides, and their metabolites.
A major contribution of his doctoral research is the development of a forensic toxicological library for plant toxins and their metabolites encountered in forensic toxicology. The library developed as part of his PhD research represents the first dedicated mass spectral library developed in India for forensic toxicological applications. This work is intended to strengthen the availability of region-specific spectral resources for forensic and clinical toxicology and support systematic toxicological analysis of plant poisoning cases.
His research interests include LC-QTOF-MS/MS, systematic toxicological analysis (STA), phytochemical screening, UV–Visible spectroscopy, FTIR spectroscopy, and chemometrics.
