Recent adoption of multimedia source inference techniques in the law enforcement sector (e.g., UK Sussex Police, Guildford Crown Court and INTERPOL) in real-world criminal cases and child sexual exploitation databases has manifested the significant value of multimedia source inference in the fight against crime. This MSc in Media Forensics degree program at National Forensic Sciences University prepares students from various backgrounds for work in the field of forensic audio, video, and image analysis utilizing the state-of-the-art methods and technology necessary to fight crime in the digital age. The learning and training of Media Forensics students is in hybrid format combining mostly online learning with a small portion of concentrated inperson classes in a two-year cohort curriculum. It is a two years full time programme, will allows for students to work full-time while pursuing the degree. The digital revolution has made a profound impact on our society and has changed the way we work and live. An increasing amount of information can now be acquired, processed, archived, and shared in electronic forms. A major hurdle holding back the wider deployment of services to make multimedia information broadly available to everyone in our society is the lack of security and forensic technologies to assure that content is used for its intended purpose and by its intended recipients. This post graduate advanced-topic course focuses on the research and development on the forensic and security technologies for multimedia information. Multimedia Forensics Scholars in multimedia forensics aim at restoring some of the lost trustworthiness of digital media by developing tools to unveil conspicuous traces of previous manipulations, or to infer knowledge about the source device. We call these two basic branches of multimedia forensics manipulation detection scenario and identification scenario, respectively. This is a prerequisite for further analysis: probative facts derived from the content of multimedia data (for instance speaker identification from microphone recording or license plate identification from a CCTV video) are only useful when the underlying data is reliable and authentic. We at NFSU are into investigation and prevention of crime, this course will enable students for proper handling and investigating fake news, encrypted images, enhancement and authentication of digital media.
