Forensic Structural Engineering (FSE) Division, School of Engineering & Technology (SET), National Forensic Sciences University in Gandhinagar, Gujarat Campus has successfully organized a two-day hands-on workshop on "Non-Destructive Tests (NDTs) in Forensic Applications" in collaboration with ESi Services India LLP on April 13-14, 2023. An overwhelming response was received for the workshop. 70 participants have registered including students, researchers, academicians, professionals and industrialists across the country. During the inauguration ceremony, Prof. (Dr.) Naveen Kumar Chaudhary, Dean-SCSDF, Campus Director, NFSU Goa Campus; Dr. Merool Vakil, Associate Professor & Associate Dean, SET, NFSU; Prof. R. J. Shah, Adjunct Professor, SET, NFSU; Dr. Kanan Thakkar, Assistant Professor, SET, NFSU; and Mr. Kaizad Engineer, Technical Director, ESi Services India LLP were present. The workshop showcased a wide range of state-of-the-art equipment for Non-Destructive Tests (NDTs), and several case studies of structural evaluation and repair were demonstrated. The equipment included Rebound Hammer, Tomography, Ground Penetrating Radar, Concrete Scanner, Chemical Tests, Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity, Resistivity Meter, Pull Out Test, Rapid Chloride Penetration Test, Half Cell Potential Meter, Cover Meter, Rebar Locator, and more. The workshop was coordinated by Dr. Merool Vakil and Dr. Kanan Thakkar. Participants were delighted with content and hands on practice, they experienced and were looking forward for such workshops in future.
