Centre of Excellence in DNA Forensics, NFSU is organizing 2 days training program on "DNA Forensics: A Judicial Primer" for Hon'ble Judges from different States of India. Prof. (Dr) S.O. Junare, Campus Director, NFSU-Gandhinagar & Prof Satish Kumar, Dean-SFS inaugurated the training program on 29 July'23. Total 32 Judges from different states of India are participating in the event that have been nominated by Registrar General of High Courts from different States in India. On first day of training Dr. S.O. Junare briefed about the activities undertaken by NFSU in various domain of Forensic and allied discipline and gave a opening remark. Prof. (Dr.) Purvi Pokhariyal, Campus Director, Delhi Campus, NFSU delivered an insightful talk on "DNA Evidence: Judicial Conundrum". Dr. Malay Shukla, Assistant Professor, SFS & Coordinator, CoE DNA Forensics, delivered a talk on " Understanding DNA as a Forensic Evidence"; while Dr. Amit Gokhle from ThermoFisher Scientific delivered talk on "Forensic DNA Technologies and Associated Terminologies & handling forensic samples, guidelines and demonstration". The talks were later followed by visit and Interactive session in CoE DNA Forensics laboratory to understand the workflow on DNA Extraction, Quantification and STR profiling. During the event Dr. Bhargav Patel, Associate Professor, SFS and Head, CoE DNA Forensics, Dr. Atima Agarwal, Business Manager, HID & CE (South Asia), ThermoFisher Scientific and Research Scholars from NFSU as well as representatives from ThermoFisher Scientific remained present. Hosting of this event on DNA Forensic is a leap forward by NFSU to contribute towards fair and effective Justice Delivery System strongly backed by DNA as a robust evidence.
