National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) celebrated 77th Independence Day with great enthusiasm and nationalistic feeling on 15th August, 2023. Padma Shri awardee and the Founder Vice Chancellor, Dr. J. M. Vyas, inaugrated the celebrations by launching a tree plantation drive on the previous day and hoisting the National Flag on the occasion of the 77th Independence Day at the Gandhinagar Campus. Besides Dr. Vyas, the celebration was attended by Campus Director, Prof. (Dr.) S.O. Junare; Executive Registrar, Shri C.D. Jadeja; Deans, faculty members, staff and students of NFSU. They later took the pledge to mark the campaign "Meri Mati, Mera Desh" to honour the sacrifice of the heroes of freedom struggle, and rekindle the spirit of nationalism. The highlight of the celebration were the talks delivered on diverse subjects by the young students from different streams. While Ms. Veronica Madan, a B.Sc.-M.Sc. Forensic Science student, kick started with a innovative talk, laced with lyrics and poetry, Mr. Vaidik Sohni, a B.Sc.-LLB, delivered a powerful talk in Hindi on the progress made in sports since independence. Thereafter, Ms. Vrinda Sharma (M.A. Mass Communication & Forensic Journalism student), in a very lucid way, presented a story of an unknown freedom fighter, a young boy Baji in Odisha, which gave goosebumps. This was followed by Ms. Aditi Singh (B.A.-M.A. Criminology) chronicling the progress made on various fronts after freedom. In the end, literally a Show Stopper, was Ms. Florence Butawu of Zimbabwe, pursuing M.A. Police & Security Studies, who brought out the similarities between her country and India and how she looks forward Zimbabwe emulating India in terms of all round development. She also shared her pleasant and surprising experiences in India. While the anchors, Ms. Vernika Mehta, a Research Scholar of Multimedia Forensics, and Mr. Jasminder Singh who is a first year Management student, stitched the talks flawlessly in Hindi and English, the participants were coached and guided with his vast experience by the faculty, Mr. Abhishek Dadhich of School of Police Science and Security Studies (SPSSS). On this auspicious occasion, Dr. J. M. Vyas addressed the faculty and students, and exhorted all to contribute their might in nation building as emerge as the the best citizens of India. He brought out that while one may be conscious of his rights, it is equally important to be aware and perform one's duties wholeheartedly. He asked everyone to work towards making India a fully developed and a self-reliant nation. Dr. J.M. Vyas also paid rich tributes to the freedom fighters and the martyrs of freedom struggle. Finally, the Vice-Chancellor congratulated the university staff for participating in the “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign. Air Commodore Kedar Thaakar, Dean of SPSSS presented the vote of thanks. NFSU Campus has been tastefully decorated with 5ri colored lights. Earlier, on the eve of the 77th Independence Day, 77 trees were planted drive at NFSU on 14 Aug.'23 led by the Vice Chancellor, Dr. Vyas. “Yuva Samvad” was also conducted on the same day. Entire programme was coordinated by Air Commodore KR Thaakar, duly supported by Dr. Pranav Dave, Asst. Professor of Forensic Journalism/ Dean, Students Welfare. The highlight of today's celebration was the talks by young students - Veronica Madan, Vaidik Sohni, Vrinda Sharma & Aaditi Singh - presenting different themes in their own style while Vernika Mehta and Jasminder anchored the program, overseen by a faculty, Mr. Abhishek Dadhich.
