First in India, the post-graduate course on "Victimology, Victim Assistance & Criminal Justice" launched at National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) in collaboration with World Society of Victimology (WSV), Germany. Dr. J. M. Vyas, Vice-Chancellor, National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) and Prof. Janice Joseph, President, World Society of Victimology graced the occasion during the inauguration ceremony of this six days certificate course on 11th September, 2023. Hon'ble Dr. Justice K.J. Thaker, Chairperson, Gujarat State Human Rights Commission (GSHRC) was the Chief Guest of the function. Dr. J.M. Vyas, Vice-Chancellor of NFSU gave the presidential address. Prof. Janice Joseph, President, World Society of Victimology said in his speech that this course will provide a more holistic approach to the victims and will create a victim friendly atmosphere. Prof. (Dr.) S.O. Junare, Campus Director-NFSU-Gandhinagar welcomed distinguished guests and all the participants at the inauguration ceremony. During the inauguration ceremony, a delegation of Hon’ble Judges from Nepal; Mr. Michael O'Connell, Former Secretary General, World Society of Victimology; Mr. Kepher Kuchana Kateu, Director-DGAL, Uganda; DR. K. Chokalingam, Founder President of the Indian Society of Victimology; Prof. (Dr.) Purvi Pokhariyal, Campus Director-NFSU-Delhi; Prof. (Dr.) Naveen Kumar Chaudhary, Campus Director-NFSU-Goa; and Prof. Beulah Shekhar, WSV Course Coordinator, NFSU, others officers, students of NFSU and professional and practitioners of victimology from different countries were also present.
