School of Law, Forensic Justice and Policy Studies, National Forensic Science University in collaboration with ICSSR is organizing the 2nd International Conference on Forensic Justice. The inauguration ceremony was held at the state-of-the-art campus of NFSU on 16th September, 2023. The event was graced by an eminent panel of guests including Chief Guest Shri R. Venkataramani, Attorney General for India; Hon'ble Dr. Justice Sanjeeb Kumar Panigrahi, Judge, Odisha High Court; Shri Priyank Kanoongo, Chairperson of National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR); and Dr. J. M. Vyas, Vice Chancellor, NFSU. First of its kind in India, the "Centre for Innocence" was also inaugurated by the dignitaries with the noble cause that forensic justice will be helpful in public welfare. During the inaugural ceremony, the dignitaries released the abstract book of the International Conference along with the 2nd issue of NFSU Journal of Forensic Justice and NFSU Journal of Law and Artificial Intelligence. An MoU was signed between NFSU and University of Hamburg, Germany in the spirit of promoting international activities and project emphasis on internationalization of higher education. Chief Guest, Shri R. Venkataramani, Attorney General for India, said that in the pursuit of forensic science knowledge, one should think out of box for the interest of global peace and justice. Forensic Science is widely expanded and needs to be integrated into criminal administration of the justice system. Shri Priyank Kanoongo mentioned, in collaboration with National Forensic Sciences University and National Commission for Protection of Child Rights, we are going to launch a “Centre for Child Rights” at NFSU. Hon'ble Dr. Justice Sanjeeb Kumar Panigrahi emphasized the importance of standardization in forensic investigation processes. Dr. J. M. Vyas, Vice-Chancellor of NFSU gave closing address. Prof. (Dr.) Purvi Pokhariyal, Dean, SLFJPS, NFSU welcomed distinguished guests and all the participants at the inauguration ceremony. Prof. Pokhariyal said that the conference received an overwhelming response, with 380 abstracts submitted and more than 450 paper authors and attendees across various themes such as Crime Scene Investigation and Forensic Evidences, Appreciation of Forensic Evidence, Digital Forensic Tools and Techniques, and Behavioural Forensic and Judiciary. During the inauguration ceremony, Mr. Sam Garkawe, Professor, Southern Cross University, Australia; Dr. Pamela, Faculty, University of Hamburg, Germany; Prof. Naveen Kumar Chaudhary, Campus Director, NFSU-Goa; participants, professional and practitioners of law fraternity and students of NFSU were present.
