Centre of Excellence in DNA Forensics, National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) in association with Technical Partner, Thermofisher Scientific Organized 03 Days Training Program on “Advancement in DNA Forensics: Empowering Forensic Experts” from 25-27 September 2023. The training program was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) S.O. Junare, Campus Director of Gandhinagar, along with Prof. (Dr.) Satish Kumar, Campus Director, NFSU Bhopal Campus and Dean of School of Forensic Science and Dr. Atima Agrawal, Business Manager, Thermofisher Scientific Pvt. Ltd. Dr. Satish Kumar delivered the opening remark on the training program. Officers of Forensic Science Laboratories from different States in India along with Research Scholars and students of School of Forensic Science, participated in the training program. Prof. (Dr.) S.O. Junare provided the insights on the advancement of DNA forensics and emphasised on the role of NFSU in enhancing academics, research, training and consultancy services for a better justice delivery system. During the training program, expert talks were delivered by Dr. Satish Kumar; Dr. Bhargav C. Patel and Dr. Malay A. Shukla from National Forensic Sciences University; Dr. Nikunj Brahmbhatt from Narayan Shastri Institute of Technology, Ahmedabad and Dr. Amit Gokhle, Application Specialist, Thermofisher Scientific. The training was meticulously crafted for enhancing skills of FSL officers that had a blend of theoretical sessions followed by extensive hands-on sessions on work-flow in DNA Profiling. The participants had a brain-storming discussion session on various challenges faced during examination of Forensic exhibits and learnt potential solutions to the problem statements. Dr. Satish Kumar distributed the certificates to all the participants while Dr. Malay Shukla, coordinated the training program and offered the vote of thanks during the valedictory function on 27th September 2023.
