School of Behavioral Forensics, National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU), Gandhinagar has organized a two-day workshop on 9th and 10th October 2023 on the occasion of World Mental Health Day. The program aims to create awareness about mental health and explain its importance to the general public. A 'Mental Health' rally was also organized at the campus on this occasion. In which a large number of faculty, students, staff participated enthusiastically. Prof. (Dr.) S.O. Junare, Campus Director, NFSU-Gandhinagar was the chief guest in the inauguration ceremony held on this occasion. Chief Mental Health Specialist of Civil Hospital, Gandhinagar, Dr. Chintan was Solanki was special guest. Dr. Asha Srivastava, Dean-School of Behavioral Forensics-NFSU delivered the welcome address and vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Priyanka Kacker, Associate Dean, School of Behavioral Forensics. A magazine named "Elysium" was released by dignitaries on the occasion. Civil Hospital's leading mental health specialist, Dr. Chintan Solanki said that we should cultivate a state of mind without fear and doubt. If you want to achieve mental health, you have to avoid stress. There are three important things to do to achieve mental health. First is, eat regularly. Second is, set bedtime and do 45 minutes of physical exercise every day. Present as Chief Guest Prof. (Dr.) S.O. Junare, Campus Director, NFSU-Gandhinagar said that if you are healthy in mind then you can be healthy in body too. Emotions play a very important role in staying healthy in life. To stay mentally healthy, it is necessary to act with positivity. Cultivate the habit of reading, travel to new places and keep learning new things to refresh your mind in a busy life. Dr. Asha Srivastava, Dean-School of Behavioral Forensics-NFSU expressed concern over the rising incidents of suicide specially among the students and security forces and said that many lives could be saved if mental illness are addressed at the early stage. Various programs have been organized to celebrate Mental Health Day at NFSU. Various activities are planned including mental health march, psychological movie screening and discussions, games, drama and support groups. On this occasion, forensic psychology experts of DFS, Dr. Amita Shukla; Dr. Hema Acharya; Air Commodore Kedar Thakar Dean SPSSS and Campus Director-NFSU Uganda, Prof. Satish Kumar Dean SFS and Campus Director-NFSU Bhopal, Deans, Faculty and Students of various schools of NFSU were present.
