Center of Excellence in DNA Forensics, National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU), Gandhinagar, India organized 2 days South Asia DNA Forensicon 2023 during 2nd and 3rd November 2023. It was jointly organized by CoE-DNA Forensics-NFSU and Thermo Fisher Scientific. Over 45 participants hailing from forensic labs in India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Maldives, and Sri Lanka came together to redefine the future of DNA forensics. Dr. J.M. Vyas, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor of NFSU, inaugurated the event with an awe-inspiring presidential speech. He emphasized the need for universal SOPs and unwavering quality control in DNA Analysis. He spoke about the quest for affordable DNA analysis consumables, fueling the next DNA revolution in India, and warmly welcomed and congratulated all attendees. Prof. (Dr.) S. O. Junare extended his best wishes for the event's success. Thermo Fisher Scientific's Mr. Jagjit Anthak, Mr. Arun, and Dr. Atima Agrawal revealed the cutting-edge advancements driving DNA forensics into the future. Dr. Bhargav C. Patel, Head of CoE-DNA Forensics, NFSU, unveiled the journey of NFSU and shared the CoE's pivotal objectives in advancing DNA forensics in India. Distinguished speakers like Peter Gill (USA), Jayashree Patel (New Zealand), Tim Schellberg (THG, USA), Dr. Vivek Sahajpal (India), and Thermo Fisher's experts delivered fascinating talks, spanning from sample collection techniques to the latest in DNA mixture analysis. Prof. (Dr.) Satish Kumar, Campus Director (Bhopal), NFSU, delivered an impactful valedictory speech, underlining the profound significance of scientific knowledge, particularly DNA Analysis, in the justice delivery system. Dr. Malay Shukla, Coordinator, CoE-DNA Forensics, NFSU, masterfully orchestrated this extraordinary event, uniting minds from across South Asia in the pursuit of forensic excellence.
