The School of Behavioral Forensics, National Forensic Sciences University celebrated the Forensic Psychology Day on 21st January 2024. The theme of this year's event was “The Way Forward: Crime Scene to Courtroom. Experts from various fields shared their experience with more than 250 participants in the one day program. The Forensic Psychology Day started with felicitation of invited Guests. The Inaugural Speech was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) S. O. Junare (Director, Gandhinagar Campus) elaborated upon the crucial role of Forensic Psychology in crime investigation. The Welcome Address was given by Prof. (Dr.) Asha Srivastava (Dean, School of Behavioural Forensics). Dr H. K. Pratihari (Director, Tripura campus) has also graced the occasion. The vote of thanks was placed by Dr Krishna Kumar Mishra (organizing secretary). The Chief Guest of the event Respected Judge Mukta Gupta (Retd.) started the technical session and addressed the scope and necessity of forensic psychology beyond investigation. Followed by an interactive session by Keshav Kumar, IPS (Retd.) elaborated the necessity of vigilance and attention to behavioral details speaks loud regarding complex cases which is often failed by generic crime investigation methods. Dr. Chintan Solanki (Psychiatrists, Civil Hospital, Gandhinagar) emphasized upon the collaborative role of mental health practitioners, forensic experts, and law enforcement agents in his deliberation. Mr. Anant Mishra (Associate Fellow, University of South Wales) detailed and informative presentation on How Psychology meets Military Intelligence. Lastly, Ms. Kanan Tandi (body language expert) discussed the association of body language in law enforcement and crime investigation with real life examples and cases by Young. The event was concluded with felicitation of Dr C R Mukundan in valedictory session. The faculties and students of School of Behavioural Forensics were actively engaged in the activities related to the event.
