Honorable Union Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports and Information & Broadcasting, Government of India Shri Anurag Singh Thakur, inaugurated the World's first Centre of Excellence in Nutritional Supplement Testing for Sportsperson (CoE-NSTS) established at National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU), Gandhinagar, Gujarat in a virtual mode on 9th February, 2024. On this occasion Honorable Minister also released a special book on Nutritional Supplements prepared by the NFSU. Dr. J.M. Vyas (Padma Shri Awardee), Vice Chancellor of NFSU was mentor and guide for NFSU team to develop this CoE. On the occassion of inaugural function Dr Vyas has remained present through virtual mode. He has given his inspirational message on this occassion. The CoE-NSTS is aimed at providing a dedicated and globally recognized testing facility for sports supplements. The CoE has quality standards certifications namely ISO 9001:2015, accreditation of ISO/IEC 17025:2017, and FSSAI, ensuring the highest standards of testing and reliability. This initiative seeks to foster a culture of excellence and fairness in sports by furnishing athletes with dependable information regarding the nutritional supplements' integral to their routines. During the inauguration, Mrs Sujata Chaturvedi, Sports Secretary, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports; Shri G. Kamal Vardhan Rao, CEO, Food Safety & Standards Authority of India (FSSAI); Shri Sandeep Pradhan, Director General, Sports Authority of India (SAI) and Shri Ashish Bhargava, Director General, National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA); Prof. (Dr.) S.O. Junare, Campus Director, NFSU-Gandhinagar; Prof. (Dr.) Purvi Pokhariyal, Campus Director, NFSU-Delhi; Dr. Aastha Pandey, Head, CoE-NSTS, faculty members and Scientific Officers from NFSU were also present at New Delhi.
