National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU), Gandhinagar organized an awareness program on New Criminal Laws have been enacted from July 1, 2024. Prof. (Dr) S.O. Junare, Campus Director, NFSU-Gandhinagar chaired the session and faculties from SLFJPS delivered a talk on new laws. Prof. (Dr.) S.O. Junare, discussed the need of the new criminal laws and how it aims to strengthen the criminal justice system. He emphasized that it is thanks to the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi Ji and Hon'ble Minister of Home Affairs Shri Amit Shah, the three new criminal laws came with the support provided by the School of Law, Forensic Justice & Policy Studies and School of Cyber Security and Digital Forensics. Moreover, he said that under the guidance of Padma Shri Awardee Dr. J M Vyas, Vice Chancellor, the NFSU is imparting knowledge of three criminal laws through continuous trainings are being continuously provided to the forensic scientists, investigative officers and judicial officers. Ms. Mradul Singh, Lecturer, SLFJPS, NFSU took a session on the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita where she discussed how the significant updates and reforms, emphasizing the impact of the newly introduced offences on the role of the forensic scientists. Dr. Gaurav Jadhav, Assistant Professor, SLFJPS, NFSU shared his knowledge on the intricacies of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita highlighting the new investigation process and its significance for forensic scientists and law enforcement. Dr. Shubham Pandey, Lecturer, SLFJPS, NFSU, thereafter took a session on the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam wherein he discussed how the newly introduced provisions impacts the witness testimony before the court. During the programme, students, faculty members were present.
