National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU), Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India took a significant step towards enhancing international cooperation and bolstering its efforts to promote forensic best practices globally by officially joining the INTERPOL Global Academy Network on 17 July 2024 as its member. National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) has created history by becoming the first Higher Educational Institution (HEI) in India to join the Interpol Global Academy Network. The MoU was signed by Dr Jürgen Stock, Secretary General, INTERPOL and Dr. J. M. Vyas, Vice Chancellor of NFSU. The move will help enhance regional and global police capacity as well as foster collaboration among law enforcement agencies worldwide. Launched in 2019, the INTERPOL Global Academy Network is led by INTERPOL’s Capacity Building and Training Directorate and aims to lead a global approach to law enforcement training. NFSU will assist INTERPOL in delivering specialized trainings on its policing capabilities, offering programmes of continuing education, jointly developing and delivering new training programmes, research and education for police, and collaborate on joint research projects with the purpose of optimizing law enforcement performance through capacity building and training. The collaboration will support INTERPOL in expanding upskilling opportunities for law enforcement around the globe. With a vast training catalogue and expertise, including advanced scientific-evidence based investigations, cybercrime investigations, digital forensics, financial fraud investigations and investigative psychology, the NFSU will enrich the training offer available to INTERPOL member countries in the Asia region and beyond.
