An inauguration ceremony of 18th International Symposium of World Society of Victimology (WSV) on “Forensic and Contemporary perspectives in Victimology and Victim Assistance” was held at National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU), Gandhinagar on 1st September, 2024. Chief Guest of the function, Hon'ble Mr. Justice Jitendra Kumar Maheshwari Judge, Supreme Court of India; H. E. Mr. Ganbold Dambajav, Ambassador of Mongolia to Republic of India; Prof. Janice Joseph, President, World Society of Victimology; Hon'ble Mr. Justice Kalpesh Jhaveri, Former Chief Justice of Orissa High Court; Dr. J.M. Vyas, Vice-Chancellor, National Forensic Sciences University were present on dais. Notably, for the first time in India such a five days’ Victimology Symposium is being held at NFSU where professional and practitioners of victimology from USA, Canada, South Africa, Australia, Spain, Taiwan, Germany and Mongolia are also present. Speaking on the occasion, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Jitendra Kumar Maheshwari, Judge of the Supreme Court of India, emphasized the importance of a victim-centric approach in justice delivery system. Padma Shri Awardee, Dr. J.M. Vyas, Vice-Chancellor of NFSU, highlighted the significant impact of the Victimology Symposium in his special address. Prof. Janice Joseph, President, World Society of Victimology also addressed the gathering. Prof. (Dr.) Said Gulyamov, Cyber Law Department, Tashkent State University of Law addressed the gathering by launching video of joint LLM Program. Prof. (Dr.) S.O. Junare, Campus Director-NFSU-Gandhinagar welcomed distinguished guests and all the participants at the inauguration ceremony. During the inauguration ceremony; Prof. (Dr.) Purvi Pokhariyal, Organizing Chair-WSV; other officers, students of NFSU and professional and practitioners of victimology from different countries were also present.
