A high-level delegation from the Ministry of Home Affairs, consisting of Shri Ashutosh Agnihotri, IAS, Additional Secretary (Women Safety Division), Government of India, and Ms. Sushma Chouhan, IAS, Director (WS), visited the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU), Gandhinagar on 28th November 2024. They had extensive discussions with Dr. J.M. Vyas, Vice Chancellor of NFSU regarding advancement in forensic science and the enhancement of internal security through forensic initiative. NFSU showcased the cutting-edge research and innovations carried out in-house for the forensic capacity building of the Nation. The delegation took interest in visiting the Centre of Excellence (CoEs), Research Centers and Mobile Forensic Van which is conceptualized and designed by NFSU. The delegation liked the design of the Mobile Forensic Van that has been optimized to function as a Mobile Laboratory. Dr. J.M. Vyas, Vice Chancellor of NFSU said that under the visionary leadership of Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Hon'ble Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah, an indigenous mobile forensic van is made to serve the people of India. The delegation took keen interest to know the function of the CoEs and as to how these facilities are augmenting the forensic capabilities of the Nation. During the visit, the delegation commended the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) for its exceptional contributions and significant advancements in the field of forensic education and research, expressing her admiration for the institution's pivotal role in shaping the future of forensic sciences. Prof. (Dr.) S.O. Junare, Campus Director, NFSU-Gandhinagar, briefed the delegation about this unique and highly specialized University's activities. He said that under the guidance of Padma Shri, Dr. J.M. Vyas, Vice Chancellor of NFSU, the world's first and only Forensic Sciences University, is trying to strengthen the forensic capabilities in the country and abroad. The delegation also discussed NFSU's future plans and how the university will play an instrumental role in aiding law enforcement agencies. During the visit, Shri C.D. Jadeja, Executive Registrar-NFSU; Prof. (Dr.) Purvi Pokhariyal, Campus Director-NFSU-Delhi; Prof. (Dr.) Naveen Kumar Chaudhary, Campus Director-NFSU-Goa; Prof. (Dr.) Satish Kumar, Campus Director-NFSU-Bhopal and other officers of NFSU were also present.
