Shri Govind Mohan, IAS, Union Home Secretary, Government of India, visited the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU), Gandhinagar, on 16th January 2025 along with Shri Prashant Lokhande, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India and Shri Anil Subramaniam, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India. They had extensive discussions with Dr. J.M. Vyas, Vice Chancellor of NFSU, regarding the present and future role of NFSU in advancements in forensic science and the enhancement of national security. NFSU showcased its capabilities and contributions, including indigenous products, like the Mobile Forensic Van, Cyber Kiosk, NDPS Kit, etc., which were conceptualized and designed by NFSU. During the visit, the Union Home Secretary commended the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) for its exceptional contributions and significant advancements in forensic education and research, expressing his admiration for the institution's pivotal role in shaping the future of forensic sciences. Dr J.M. Vyas, Vice Chancellor of NFSU, said that under the visionary leadership of Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Hon'ble Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah, NFSU is helping 92 countries of the world in enhancing capacity building in the field of Forensic Sciences. NFSU also works well in the field of Research and Innovation for Forensic Indigenous Products to provide aid to the criminal justice system. Prof. (Dr.) S.O. Junare, Campus Director-NFSU-Gandhinagar, gave a detailed presentation on various activities and contributions of NFSU. He said that under the guidance of Padma Shri Awardee, Dr. J.M. Vyas, Vice Chancellor of NFSU, the world's first and only Forensic Sciences University, is trying to strengthen the forensic capabilities in the country and abroad. The Union Home Secretary and both Joint Secretaries also visited various state-of-the-art infrastructure facilities such as the Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security, the Centre of Excellence in Investigative and Forensic Psychology, the Ballistics Research Centre and Testing Range, the Centre of Excellence in Narcotics Drugs & Psychotropic Substances (NDPS), the Centre of Excellence in DNA Forensics and the Centre of Excellence in Digital Forensics and they were very much impressed. During the discussion, Shri C.D. Jadeja, Executive Registrar-NFSU; Prof. (Dr.) Naveen Kumar Chaudhary, Campus Director-NFSU-Goa; Prof. (Dr.) Purvi Pokhariyal, Campus Director-NFSU-Delhi and other senior officers of NFSU were also present.
