Coast Guard Regional Headquarters (North West) signed an MoU with National Forensic Sciences University, Gandhinagar, on July 16, 2025, for academic collaboration between the two institutions. The MoU was signed by IG T. Sashi Kumar, COMCG and Prof. (Dr.) S.O. Junare, Campus Director, NFSU-Gandhinagar. This collaboration will prove to be a unique and pivotal initiative between both parties, with a mutual exchange of resources and opportunities for skill development. Prof. (Dr.) S.O. Junare, Campus Director, NFSU-Gandhinagar explained the capabilities of the NFSU, which can be of use for Coast Guard Regional Headquarters. IG T. Sashi Kumar and his team discussed the scope of this collaboration for all super specialist labs in all fields of Forensics and divisions of Forensic Sciences at the National Forensic Sciences University. Prof. Junare also emphasized the need for Forensic Investigation tools in the Coast Guard infrastructural setup and areas where the NFSU can facilitate capacity building of Coast Guard Personnel. Prof. (Dr.) Parag Rughani oriented the senior officials towards recent demands of Forensic Investigations in the field of Cyber Security and Digital Forensics. A detailed Centre visit was conducted by Dr. Digvijaysinh M. Rathod, Professor & Head, Centre of Excellence Cyber Security, School of Cyber Security and Digital Forensics. Prof. (Dr.) Asha Srivastava discussed the Centre for Happiness and Well-being’s various initiatives towards positive mental health for defense personnel, and highlighted the strengths of NFSU as a strong mental health service provider to all. During the MoU signing ceremony, DIG PK Sharma, CoS; DIG Vijay Singh, CSO (P&A); Surg Cdr Amit Thakur, RMO; Surg Lt Umang J Gondaliya, SMO, Gandhinagar & Prof. (Dr.) Asha Srivastava (Dean, School of Behavioural Forensics & Centre Head- Centre for Happiness and Well-being); Prof. (Dr.) Smita Pandey (Associate Dean, School of Behavioural Forensics); Faculty Members and Scientific staff of the School of Behavioural Forensics were present.
