The CISO Meet for the Banking Sector, organized by the Center of Excellence in Cyber Security (CoE-CS), National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU), Gandhinagar with the theme “Empowering Banking Security: Safeguarding IT Infrastructure Against Cyber Threats ", was successfully held on 13th February 2026 at NFSU, Gandhinagar Campus. The occasion was graced by Shri Ajay Patel, Chairman, Cooperative Bank of India & Gujarat State Cooperative Bank and Senior Vice President, Indian Olympic Association, who delivered an inspiring Chief Guest address. He emphasized strong leadership, governance, and the urgent need to build resilient cybersecurity frameworks within the cooperative banking sector. In this event more than 75 CISO/IT managers from 31 cooperative banks participated. The event was organized under the visionary leadership of Honourable Padma Shri Dr. J. M. Vyas, Vice Chancellor, NFSU, and chaired by Prof. (Dr.) S. O. Junare, Campus Director, Gandhinagar Campus, along with Prof. (Dr.) Digvijaysinh Rathod, Professor & Head, CoE-CS. The program commenced with the traditional Lighting of the Lamp ceremony and event concluded with the National Anthem, marking a respectful and dignified closure to the day’s proceedings. Insightful Sessions and Expert Talks delivered by the Prof. (Dr.) Digvijaysinh Rathod, Head, CoE-CS, Shri Ramji Chavda, GM & CISO, Gujarat State Co-operative Bank Ltd., Shri Harishchandra Rana, COO & Information Security Consultant, Commerce Pundit Technologies. Each session addressed real-world challenges faced by banks, regulatory expectations, and strategic approaches to strengthening IT infrastructure and governance mechanisms. Panel Discussion on “Cyber Resilience for Cooperative Banks: From Compliance to Capability,” conducted in the afternoon, in which, Prof. (Dr.) Parag Rughani, Dean, SCSDF, Prof. (Dr.) Haresh Barot, Dean, SMS, Shri Ramji Chavda, GM & CISO, GSCB, Shri Jayesh Khamar, Lead Auditor, Bureau Veritas, Shri Devang Jasani, CEO & MD, Meridian InfoTech,Shri Harishchandra Rana, COO & ISC, Commerce Pundit Technologies, Dr. Nilay Mistry, Head, CoE-Digital Forensics (CoE-DF), NFSU., Shri Darsh Patel, Senior Scientific Officer, CoE-CS participated. The session was effectively moderated by Prof. (Dr.) Digvijaysinh Rathod. The discussion moved beyond theoretical compliance requirements and focused on building real, practical cyber capability within cooperative banks. Participating CISOs gained deeper clarity on how CoE-CS, CoE-DF, Forensic Accounting, and NFSU as a whole can support banks in achieving their cybersecurity and governance goals. The centre visits to CoE-CS and CoE-DF further enabled participants to understand the advanced infrastructure and technical capabilities available to assist banks. Overall, with more than 75 active participants and overwhelmingly positive feedback, the CISO Meet marked a significant milestone in strengthening industry academia collaboration and advancing cybersecurity resilience in India’s banking sector.
