Renowned Gujarati poet and researcher Shri Jawahar Baxi addressed students on the topic ‘Science and Indian Knowledge System’ at the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU), Gandhinagar, on March 19, 2026. On this occasion, he also visited the various Centers of Excellence at NFSU. Padma Shri awardee Dr. J.M. Vyas, Vice Chancellor of NFSU, greeted him by presenting a memento. It is noteworthy that Shri Jawahar Baxi has been honored with several prestigious awards in the field of Gujarati literature, including the Amrut Award, Kalapi Award, and Narmad Suvarna Chandrak. At the age of 71, he earned a Ph.D. by conducting research on the poetry of the poet Narsinh Mehta, focusing on spirituality from a scientific perspective. In his address, Shri Jawahar Baxi stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, the National Education Policy is giving importance to the Indian knowledge tradition, which is the need of the hour. During British rule in India, Macaulay attempted to undermine ancient Indian traditions; however, in today’s New India, efforts are being made to bring ‘Indian wisdom’ to the global stage under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji. He further stated that fields such as quantum physics, classical physics, and DNA science are validating the truths found in the principles of Vedic knowledge established by ancient sages. He emphasized, with several examples, that from the Vedas and Ayurveda to the social sciences of the sages, these traditions are being reaffirmed today. He encouraged students to adopt “scientific spirituality” along with value-based education for their holistic development. Addressing students of DNA studies, he highlighted that accumulated karma and impressions across lifetimes are reflected in DNA, and motivated them to take up further research in this challenging area. On this occasion, Prof. (Dr.) Naveen Kumar Chaudhary, Campus Director of NFSU-Goa, along with research scholars and students, were present.
