The National Forensic Science University (Gandhinagar) (NFSU), the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL), in cooperation with the Government of India Ministry of External Affairs and the US Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency, conducted forensic archaeological excavations at a World War II-era US aircraft crash site in Assam, India during December 2022 to mid-January 2023. Dr. Gargi Jani-Program Manager-NFSU along with four students from International Centre for Humanitarian Forensics (ICHF) -NFSU were part of an 11 members joint team. Three participants from UNL were led by Dr. William Belcher and Dr. LuAnn Wandsnider. Additionally, Dr. Koel Mukherjee participated from the Anthropological Survey of India.
